INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS

The 90 minute class time will be structured as follows:

15 minutes - DEAR - Drop Everything and Read
05 minutes - timed writing on computer
10 minutes - keyboarding practice

30 minutes - lecture and class discussion
30 minutes - computer research/worksheets

Review basic computer skills:

Create personal directory, sub-folders, and files
Copyright and plagiarism
Computer etiquette

Students will be introduced to the history of computers including the beginning of the Internet. Students will explore the technology timeline to view how technology has changed in the last two decades. Proper computer vocabulary will be introduced and reviewed.

Students will use Intel's Journey Inside the Computer on the Internet to begin their discovery of the hardware components that make a computer work.

Students will work with real hardware components to discover what each part does in a computer. Students will research and write a tech
