The students will learn:

Greet someone formally and informally

Ask how someone is and respond

Say goodbye to one another

Ask who someone is and identify a person

Identify common classroom objects

Ask where something is

Describe location of people and things

Recognize numbers 1 to 60

Ask how much something costs

Order food and drink at a café

Use polite expressions

Ask or tell where someone is from and what someone is like

Compare French and American schools

Describe themselves

Describe and identify people and things

Use negation

Improve pronunciation skills

Locate some French cities and geographical features

Describe people and things related to school

Tell what subjects they take and give some opinions about them

Use the days of the week to discuss activities

Talk about more than one person or thing

Ask “yes/no” questions

Speak formally and informally to people

Tell time and say at what time activities occur

Recognize time using the 24-hour clock

Talk about Paris suburbs and small towns in France

Recognize two French artists, Monet and Gauguin.

 

Order food and drink at a café or restaurant Talk about what they do in school and after school

Learn about clothing and colors

Verbal warning/immediate teacher intervention

Second offense:

Teacher/team intervention with phone call home and subsequence mandatory parent conference

Third offense:

Discipline referral and administrative intervention

 

Severe/disruption: Immediate administrative intervention

B= 80%-89%                 D=60%-69%

Students must wear ID at all times

 

Silent reading (DEAR)

At the beginning of each class students are required to engage in fifteen minutes of silent reading and five minutes of writing about what they read.

 

Materials: Paper, pencils, highlighters, one box of tissue, and a book for DEAR (no magazines)

Attendance/tardy policy, homework policy and late work policy:

Schoolwide policy is as follows:

All assigned homework/ projects are due when assigned. Work submitted late will be accepted with a penalty if student adhered to attendance policy. If absent, work will be accepted according to the attendance policy as seen on page 6 of the agenda.

Late work will be dropped one letter grade for each class not submitted. Next business day is the next class scheduled
