6th Grade
The purpose of this course is to enable students to
understand the development of the world community
and realize that the world is comprised of many diverse
cultural groups who have made significant contributions
to our past and present. Students will gain knowledge
of history, geography, economics, diverse cultures
and global issues while building critical-thinking
and literacy skills, which will prepare them as participating
members of a global society. The course also provide
students with opportunities to use the five themes
of geography to acquire and organize information about
people, places and culture and develop a sense of
where they are in time and space.

7th Grade
The purpose of the course is to provide the students
with the knowledge, skills, and ethics required for
responsible citizenship and productive employment.
Students will have the opportunity to acquire an understanding
of the structure and functions of local, state and
national government within constitutional and economic
frameworks, the rights and responsibilities of citizenship,
the American legal system and law-focused topics,
the basic consumer and economic principles, the history
of Palm Beach County, and the importance of active
participation through service learning. Throughout
the course, students will increase critical-thinking,
decision-making and literacy skills, which will
empower them to become productive and responsible
citizens. As an extension, students will conduct
research projects and demonstrate the use of
technology in problem solving activities.

8th Grade
The purpose of this course is to enable the students
to understand the development of the United States
from Exploration to Reconstruction within the
context of history by examining the political, economic,
social, military, scientific, and cultural events
that have affected the rise and growth of our nation.
By examining connections to the past and the contributions
of men and women of diverse cultures, students will
gain the knowledge necessary to enhance critical-thinking,
decision-making and literacy skills to prepare
for further learning and to become a productive member
of a democratic society. As an extension, students
will conduct research projects and demonstrate
the use of technology in problem solving activities.
