Services provided by the ESOL Department are:

•  Assisting and supporting all ESOL students in the classroom.

•  Advocating for ESOL students and their parents.

•  Developing and implementing strategies to increase  academic achievement.

•  Interpreting in school communications for students and parents and    

   translating of documents into home language.

•  Home Visits when it is necessary.

•  Referral of parents to community resources.

•  Computer-assisted instruction: ESOL support classes use high-interest       

   activities that provide natural language experiences to enhance language 

   learning.

All English language development activities are aligned with the Sunshine State Standards. At Roosevelt Middle School for Math Science and Technology, we encourage parent involvement by helping all parents/guardians of LEP students to participate on committees, attend/ join student/parent organizations. The ESOL department supports and organizes the Parent Leadership Council, which we call PTLC (parent teacher leadership council. Our PTLC, Parent Teacher Leadership Council meets every other month. The PTLC is a proud sponsor of the Multicultural Day Celebration, Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration ( RMS Hispanic Town ) and the Haitian Heritage Month Celebration.
