2006 Merit Award Winner PROGRAM OF DISTINCTION
Magnet Schools of America
2006 V.I.P.S. Golden School Award |
Welcome to the Roosevelt Middle School web-page.
We hope that you find the information contained within helpful
and informative.
Now that we have entered the final weeks of school it is
important for students to continue making their best effort
and to remain focused. Maintaining good study habits including
completing assignments and homework on time, effective time
management, attending extra help, coming to class prepared
to learn, and getting a good night’s sleep all remain
important. Parents can help by continuing to monitor their
child’s progress and communicating with teachers when
a concern arises.
With the warmer weather comes the expectation that all students
arrive at school dressed appropriately. Dress that is distracting,
disruptive, or poses a safety issue is prohibited, as indicated
in the district-wide and building "Code of Conduct".
Parents are asked to take a few moments to discuss with students
the appropriate dress for a work and learning environment. Any
student who wears clothing that is deemed inappropriate for
a middle school setting will be required to change.

Throughout the school year, we have implemented numerous
programs to meet the social, emotional and academic needs
of our middle school students. Our PTSC has supported a variety
of programs to enrich and enhance the educational experience
for our students. I encourage parents to participate in the
PTSC program and SAC committees respectively - you are sorely
needed. These programs have included pertinent information
such as the dress code for next year.
Our students continue to be active in many areas and to
receive accolades for their achievements locally, regionally,
and nationally. Some examples include: 1st place SECME, two
students finished in the top 10 for math awards in the state.
Large numbers of students continue to be involved in co-curricular
activities, music, drama and the athletic programs.
We are proud of the accomplishments of our students during
this past school year. We hope that your child has experienced
a rewarding year and has grown socially, emotionally and
intellectually. Thank you for being our partners in the education
of your children.
Congratulations to our eighth graders as they complete three
years at Roosevelt Middle School and prepare to begin high
school. Best wishes to all for a healthy, restful, and productive
summer.
Sincerely,
George L. Lockhart
